A supportive school climate is the foundational condition for assessment literacy. As an instructional leader of the building, it is important to know that it takes a team with the same mission and vision to move the district forward. Therefore, the first meeting of the leadership team was focused on developing a building vision, mission and goals see figure above. According to Acosta-Sing (n.d.), “Vision should provide a challenging and enriched curriculum that promotes critical thinkers and independent learners”. Levy (n.d.) stated, “ Goals are related to the vision and mission of the school”. The team members felt it was important to keep the vision and mission simple with high expectations at the primary level. The goals are also broad, with a focus on student learning. As noted at the bottom of the figure, a revision date was added to assist future members of the team in continued planning and revisions.
